Custom XR10 Rear Link Mount

Hey guys/gals. I thought id let you in on my current mod and im sorry for the spelling but i cant be $*#$(# considering this is the 2nd time im wiring this out and i have 4wd tyres to fit  .

Ok so i made a pivoting link mount out of the spares axial gives you in the XR10 kit. I hav;t tested it yet but i think it will work rather well, but im unsure how it will hold up when using dig but like i said ...its un tested.

Pivot link in down position. Gives better weight distribution

Image
Pivot link in middle position. Pretty much stock but with better clearance between link and motor

Image
Pivot link in high position. Lifts the motor right out of the way but still has clearance between link and motor for flex

It looks pretty cool but I am not sure why you would want a link mount that can pivot. Because the mount is only secured by one point the link geometry will constantly be changing as the mount pivots.

I mainly did it to try and get some better clearance between the links and the motor so i can actually use the full travel of the shocks. it doesn't change anything really.. only rear diff rotation

So what stops it rotating on forward and reverse load?

I could see a use for it if it could be pinned either up or down. Would be a "quick tune" to suit a particular course.

Pretty much just the tightness of the mounting screw. Holds well with 100t motors on dig.. not so well with 20t's on dig. only had to re-adjust once when the front got mega jammed and the rear had plenty of traction so it kept pushing. The main idea was the quick tune aspect.

You run 100T motors? :|

The link mount needs to be solid, Some thing else that needs to be considered is if you plan to compete with this truck. The fact that the rear axle can rotate at times, may push it out of spec by increasing the length of the vehicle.

Ive got a stock of cheap motors that i swap between when im running different tracks. this link extends the wheel base about 1/2cm when the motor is in the up position. Also considering using a velcro strap to hold in both positions... yet to test

1mm out of spec will cost you an on course repair and 10 points.

100t motors would almost be a handy cap. Can you get any wheel speed with them?
