Shorty you should pick up a set of these (if you don't already have them!)
http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthre ... 300&page=3
I will be using them on my future fj build...

Small update. Took the 40 out for a run while i was testing/breaking the clod
Here are a few small vids (no fancy camera, no fancy music, no fancy editing, some fancy swearing )
1st vid - Going up a climb with an inward sloped camber.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJIJhA-TbZ4
2nd vid - Going back down the same step. 3 attempts. "..........Take 3"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXCPH8rDpdU
3rd vid - Just a random step.

crawler king - the motor is some brushless outrunner thing with a quark esc. Pretty good combo actually. Geat torgue, great slow crawling and excellent engine braking.
Newbie - its right next to the pool. But there is also some fun crawling on the Reddies side of the coal loader.

Thanks Tim In my books it is THE best build, because it is mine
I should submit it to a few mags. Drum up some business for the site and for Benno as he had a hand in building it

 Re: Shorty40's Scale TLT Shorty40 !
Well............... With the disappearance of the Berg comp rig, the 40 has been pulled out and dusted off. She is getting some upgrades and mods to bring it inline with scale comp rules. Mods/parts on order: Sidewinder ESC - from Tzi ESC program card - from Tzi OEM Steel 1.9 Stock Beadlock Wheel - Black Edition - from RC4WD Rok Lox 1.9 Comp Tires - from RC4WD Red Super Soft Flex Leaf Springs - from RC4WD Still trying to get my head around which shafts to get

 Re: Shorty40's Scale TLT Shorty40 !
I recommend traxxas stampede shafts... I've snapped axles, turned hexes, and exploded diffs, but havent had a pede shaft fail me yet I even use the plastic ends. They do get sloppy over time, but as long you cross drill the shafts, they hold fine.

 Re: Shorty40's Scale TLT Shorty40 !
'Bout time too So who's fitting the new parts? Surely your very limited skills wont let you Nah man sounds good. Looking forward to seeing the little 40 out again Gotta get some pics of the 2 40's out crawling. . . . . . Cheers Pricey.

 Re: Shorty40's Scale TLT Shorty40 !
Tzi - I think Pede shafts are whats in it at the moment. I have only busted one so far, so I guess they will last with 1.9s. Nobody likes a smart arse Pricey............that's my job Given your sig block I was hoping you could come around and fit the parts ??? And for sure we will get the 40s together

 Re: Shorty40's Scale TLT Shorty40 !
Well, I bit the bullet and bought the CR01 3racing shafts. I bought two sets so I could mix and match if I need to get the right lengths. From all reports these shafts should well be up to the task on a scaler.

 Re: Shorty40's Scale TLT Shorty40 !
Well i know you wont have a prob with fitting the wheels/tyres to the 40. I'm sure there will be the usual 28pics to go with it If you get stuck, you know my number. . . . . . . Cheers Pricey.

 Re: Shorty40's Scale TLT Shorty40 !
Mail man has been Just waiting on the motor from Hong Kong now. I will put the tyres on the rims and fit the new leaf springs. Looks like I need to take a file to the collars on the unis. Fit the speedy (Tzi already set it up for me). Might pop the old brushless motor in ti test it out. The tyres look about right compared to the 38" TSLs that were on my original FJ40.

Got the cross pin ones. But they bind up when I tighten them. Am I meant to run a washer ???
